Ivo Guber, M.D.

Doctor Ivo Guber graduated from the medical school at the University of Basel in 2005. In 2006, he received the doctor title in human medicine with his dissertation on the surgical rehabilitation of the paralyzed face. After almost three years of surgical training, initially general surgery, then cardiovascular surgery at the Cantonal Hospital of St. Gallen and the University Hospital Zurich, respectively, he completed his ophthalmological training at the Cantonal Hospital of Lucerne and at the University Hospital of Lausanne. In 2012, he was awarded the Swiss, European and International specialist title of Ophthalmology (FMH / FEBO / FICO) and, in 2015, the specialist title in ophthalmic Surgery (FMH). After two years as a senior physician at the Cantonal Hospital Winterthur, Doctor Guber returned to the University Hospital Lausanne, where he specialized in the surgery of the anterior segment of the eye. As part of his eye surgery training, he spent a year and a half abroad at the internationally renowned Queen Victoria Hospital in England. In particular, he deepened his knowledge in the field of corneal surgery and stem cell transplantation. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Guber is very dedicated to research with over 30 publications in high-ranked journals. His main areas of research include implantation of special refractive lenses, keratoconus disease and laminating corneal surgery. Dr. Guber regularly gives lectures at national and international congresses and training courses for ophthalmologists.

Doctor Guber is an active member of the Swiss Ophthalmological Society (SOG) and member of the commission for postgraduate education and training. Its purpose is the coordination and supervision of ophthalmological training.

In addition to his private clinic, Doctor Guber works as a senior consultant for corneal diseases and anterior segment surgery at the University Eye Hospital of Geneva.
